Paul had been battling cancer, and checked into Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia last week. However, his manager claims he was home at the time of his death.

Paul is most notable for his song “Me and Mrs. Jones,” which topped the Billboard charts for three weeks in 1972, and won Billy a Grammy.

His 1975 hit “Let’s Make A Baby” also came to be well known, but this time for its controversiality, sparking call for radio station boycott from Rev. Jesse Jackson because of its sexual nature.
Billy was 81 years old.
