Twenty three year old Selena Gomez has signed up to executive produce a Lifetime drama series about her life. The show is supposed to deliver similarly to HBO’s Entourage, which is loosely based on Mark Wahlberg’s life, according to producers that include Kevin Spacey.

The network is touting the show in their newly developed line-up, focusing the show around Gomez’s rise to fame and how being a child star at 10 years old can be difficult. In an interview with GQ earlier this year she revealed how life went from working with Barney (yes ,the big purple dinosaur) to creating racy singles and sexy photo-shoots.

In the last couple years Lifetime has received criticism on their biopics of Whitney Houston and Aaliyah. Adding to a long list of biopics that also weren’t well received like that of Prince William and Kate Middleton, Brittany Murphy and Anna Nicole Smith. Houston’s family told viewers to “brace for the worst,” in their viewing of the film, while many high profile names like T-Boz of TLC slammed the Aaliyah film publicly. Hopefully Gomez’s direct involvement will help them this time around.
