It hasn’t yet been a week since the word lost one of its most beloved icons, legendary musician Prince, who passed away in his hometown of Minneapolis this past Thursday. An expected outpouring of mourning and support has included several musical tributes and acknowledgements, by everybody from Game to Frank Ocean, but possibly the best moment of remembrance came from D’Angelo, on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon last night, where the reclusive R&B star–a legend in his own right–performed Prince’s classic 1986 record “Sometimes It Snows in April,” taken from his multi-platinum Parade album.

Watch D’angelo, blanketed with gentle purple lights and backed by Princess, remember Prince in his own soulful way, above.
