It is a common sight to see professional athletes covered in tattoos but nearly two decades ago, it wasn’t as common as it is now. New York Knicks star Carmelo Anthony is one of more heavily tatted players in the NBA, and in a recent interview on The Dan Patrick Show, Melo shared a funny story regarding his very first tat at the age of 16. Anthony, who was raised in Baltimore, MD got the Ravens logo tattooed on his forearm and covered it up every time his mother would be around, knowing that she wouldn’t be at all pleased.

Unfortunately for him, playing a sport where you often where jerseys leaving your arms exposed doesn’t help the hiding process much. One of the top High School basketball players in the nation at the time, Anthony was a regular in the local newspapers sports section, and it is there that his big secret was exposed to his mother.
