Gordon was the National League batting champion last year. The news is a blow to the Miami organization, with their efforts to turn the team around falling short once again. The Marlins are 10-11 this season, and losing Gordon will not help their cause.

This is the second player to receive an 80-game this week. Earlier, Chris Colabello, a first baseman and outfielder for the Toronto Blue Jays, was banned for PED usage as well.

The MLB continues to struggle with PED usage amongst its players, even though their testing has vastly improved. The incentive to cheat still clearly outweighs the punishment for getting caught.
