One of Hip Hop’s most historic record labels, Roc-A-Fella Records enjoyed much success in the late 90s and early 2000s but things soon soured as co-founders Jay Z and Dame Dash parted ways in a highly publicized debacle. The two have never formally discussed the reasoning behind the breakup of the label, which occurred during the mid-2000s. As recently as last week, former Roc-A-Fella Records artist Memphis Bleek appeared on N.O.R.E.’s Drink Champs podcast and shed some light on an argument he had with Dash aboard a private jet, forewarning him of what was to come.

For his part, Dash recently spoke with Dr. Boyce Watkins and gave his perspective on the infamous breakup, going into detail for the first time ever. Watch below.
