Last night was the Met Gala in New York City at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and in addition to the marquee red carpet, featuring A-list stars, celebrities and musicians, inside the actual gala a couple of those stars took the stage to perform a never-before-heard remix: The Weeknd and Nas.
That’s right, last night’s audience was treated to a live world premiere of The Weeknd’s “Tell Your Friends” remix, featuring Nasir Jones. Though they seem like an unlikely pairing, Nas sounded right at home over Kanye West’s subdued, piano-driven instrumental, a song that was originally meant for his album, but found its home on The Weeknd’s platinum-selling Beauty Behind The Madness release from August of 2015.
Hopefully we get the full version of this song sooner than later, and let’s keep the Nas verses coming while we wait on his first album since 2012’s Life Is Good.
