Once again, the Miami Heat and Toronto Raptors went to overtime last night [Thursday, May 5], before the Raptors emerged victorious. After a mediocre game of basketball, the 4th quarter ended in dramatic fashion. Clutch shots from Kyle Lowry, Dwyane Wade and Goran Dragic ensured the game would head to OT.
In overtime, the Raptors pulled away from the Heat and ultimately won, 96-92. The Heat missed their first five shots to begin the overtime, and had to resort to fouling the Raptors several times to even have a chance towards the end. The Heat had a total of 21 turnovers, which hurt their offense all night long.
This win means that the series is now tied, 1-1. The momentum is now with the Raptors as the series heads to Miami. The Heat will be looking to rebound in front of their home crowd and gain control of the series. The Heat announced before Game 2 that Chris Bosh will be out for the rest of the playoffs due to his health issues, so the Heat will need other players to step up and contribute.
The Raptors will be looking to overcome their inexperience against a proven team with a championship pedigree. They desperately need to get their starting backcourt going in order to beat the Heat. Kyle Lowry and DeMar DeRozan have both struggled shooting from the field, going 7-22 and 9-24 respectively, and DeRozan went 2-8 from the free-throw line in Game 2.
The next game tips Saturday at 5:00 PM on ESPN.
