Any beer drinker in the world would be elated at the thought of free beer. Former MLB infielder Brandon Laird just got his ticket to beer heaven, winning an entire year’s supply of beer thanks to a home run. Now playing for the Hokkaido Hippon Ham Fighters in Japan’s baseball league, Laird hit a home run that struck the Kirin Brewery sign inside of the Tokyo Dome. As random as that was, it won him a year supply of the product and $10,000.

Speaking with the Japan Times, Laird shared:

“I think it’s pretty cool when they tell you if you hit the signs you get a prize like that. To actually do it in a game was pretty cool.”

Unfortunately, Laird doesn’t drink much beer.

“Definitely not drink it. Maybe give some to the batting practice pitchers or whoever wants it.”

Great marketing on the part of the Kirin Brewery. Let’s just hope Laird is not opposed to shipping the beer to my home address.
