Detroit Police Sgt. Michael Woody says in an email that police reacted around midnight Tuesday [May 10, 2016] to a home on the city’s northwest side and the young girl was taken by ambulance to a hospital where she was reported dead on site.

ABC reports that as indicated by the underlying examination, police say Davis found the firearm in an upstairs room and shot herself while the grandmother was downstairs. Police say two children, ages one and three, likewise were upstairs at the time. They weren’t harmed.
