On June 28, 2013, friend of the former tight end, Ernest Wallace was arrested in connection to the murder. Hernandez was found guilty of first-degree murder, as well as several weapons charges; consequently, the former NFL football player was automatically sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. However, things went differently for Wallace.

On Thursday, May 12, Wallace was found not guilty for the murder of Odin Lloyd, reports Bleacher Report. While the jury believed he was guilty of being an accessory to the crime, anything is better than a guilty verdict on a murder charge (just ask Hernandez).

The two were reportedly together on the night Hernandez killed Lloyd, who was dating the former athlete’s fiancée. Wallace was given four to seven years in prison, but he could be out as soon as next year, since he’s been jailed since 2013.
