The front office officials in Atlanta have decided that enough is enough, and have fired manager Fredi Gonzalez after a six year tenure with the team. Some find the firing to be a bit premature, but the way the Braves organization went about it can be described as “messy.”

According to sources, Gonzalez found out he was fired after he received an airline confirmation for a flight heading back to Atlanta on Tuesday. According to Atlanta Journal Constitution writer David O’Brien:

The Braves had already made the decision to fire him and booked his commercial flight home Tuesday, but didn’t plan to tell him he’d been fired until Tuesday morning, after president of baseball operations John Hart flew to Pittsburgh to join general manager John Coppolella.

Later Monday night after getting the email, Gonzalez eventually had confirmed by Braves top officials what he already was certain about by then: He was fired.

The Braves are currently in PNC Park facing off against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Though they’re in rebuilding mode, they’ll need the right man to come in and bring new hope to the young Braves.
