Frank Vogel will be the next coach of the Orlando Magic. Reports are saying the team has given him a 4-year contract worth $22 million. Scott Skiles, the previous Magic coach, stepped down from the head coaching position last week. Vogel was released by the Indiana Pacers at the beginning of May.

The Orlando Magic finished 35-47 this season, coming in last in the Southeast Division. That was a ten game improvement over the previous season. Unfortunately, ever since the departure of Dwight Howard, the Magic have been a below .500 team, and are looking to get back to their winning ways.

In his six seasons as head coach of the Pacers, Vogel had a 250-181 regular season record, and 31-30 postseason record. Vogel is known for coaching tough defensive teams, with his Pacers battling hard against the Big 3 down in Miami back in 2013 and 2014.

The Magic have lots of young talent, with Victor Oladipo and the runner up in the dunk contest, Aaron Gordon, headlining their young core. Vogel will have his work cut out for him trying to shape this young team into a contender, but with his coaching pedigree, he certainly looks like a good choice for this young Magic team.
