Earlier this month, Soulja Boy took to his Twitter account and announced that he recently inked a $400 million deal. Not mentioning who the deal was with, the Internet was ripe with skepticism, all assuming that the numbers were probably a farce, or questioning whether the rapper fabricated the story altogether. It is know secret that Soulja Boy is one of the wealthier artists in Hip Hop, since coming onto the scene in 2007 producing and writing his own records, he cashed out as one of the most successful artists of Hip Hop’s “ringtone era.”

Today, Billboard reported that Soulja Boy’s $400 million deal is indeed real, having landed a 5-year endorsement deal with World Poker Fund Holdings. The company praised the MC as “one of the most influential urban entertainers and artists on social media today.

Speaking on the deal, Soulja Boy shared:

“I invest in things I understand. I enjoy music, and of course gaming. Being an influencer is a form of currency. Having portfolio diversification is critical if you want to be an effective brand ambassador. With regards to World Poker Fund, I believe in its strategy, its team, the vision, and management’s ability to target its financial goals.”

Company spokesman Matthew Bird chimed in as well, explaining why Soulja Boy’s brand was so valuable to them.

Bird:

“We no longer are fed content from major news networks—we seek it out and consume it by individual influencers that enrich our lifestyles. Soulja Boy represents the best of the best and we are already seeing the impact from his presence.”

Congrats to Soulja Boy on that power play!
