BET Networks answered the call of mothers, aunties and all-around nostalgic music lovers everywhere by announcing New Edition: The Movie, set to premiere in 2017.

The film features actors Wood Harris, Duane Martin, Michael Rapaport, and Faizon Love. Empire’s Bryshere Y. Gray, actor Elijah Kelley, singer Luke James, and Tank also star in the film, which is based on the trials and triumphs of the group’s legacy.

In 1978, Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins,Bobby Brown,Ronnie DeVoe, Johnny Gill, and Ralph Tresvant captured the attention of the world by setting the standard for male R&B groups. Since then, the men have each had a unique career, some going solo and some staying together.

In 2016, New Edition is back and hasn’t skipped a single beat. Their signature dance moves and romantic lyrics are just as heartfelt in “This One’s For Me & You” released March, 2016.

Thirty-eight years in music not only shows everyone’s age, but how talented New Edition truly is. The men have provided the soundtrack to countless proms, weddings, parties, and other events carving a special place in many people’s hearts. The group’s movie is sure to get everyone around the T.V. to celebrate it all.
