Virginia native Pharrell Williams is as multifaceted as they come, embodying true individuality while still managing to influence pop culture as we know it. Ask a number of people who he is, and you might just get a different answer from each one: Producer. Artist. Coach. Fashion Enthusiast. Trailblazer. Mentor.
Skateboard P’s revamped website mirrors all of those facets, plus more. PharrellWilliams.com has a purpose to serve fans by giving them full access to a “museum” of his projects, as he refers to it. However it’s not solely for the fans, as the musician plans to use it as a way for him to get to know them as well.
The Grammy-award winning artist is known to be humble and usually shies away from self-promotion, so the creative team at production house Five Hundred knew they had to pitch their idea from a personalized angle. Their pitch to involve fans in a very inclusive way is what brought Pharrell on board.
“On my new website, before you learn about me, you first meet the faces who have supported my projects. It’s a way for me to connect with all of you in a personal way. You are the reason I have a career, and it’s important to me that you’re all acknowledged first,” he says in a special message to fans.
The site influences users to embrace being an “other” by personalizing their profiles in a way that is unique to them. Pharrell can’t be put in a box and he’s proven that once again, as his innovative website is in a league of its own.
