Attica Scott is the newest face in Kentucky politics, and citizens of the state couldn’t be more proud.

The former Louisville Metro Council member won the Kentucky Democratic Primary, sending her to the Kentucky house in January. It has been 20 years since a Black woman has served in the state’s legislature. In an interview with Huffington Post, Scott described her political success as “sweet.” Raking in 54 percent of votes in the race, Scott has become a prolific figure in Kentucky politics, with a hustle to match her achievements.

Scott served as the District 1 representative to Louisville Metro Council from 2011-2014 and served as Chair of the Ad Hoc Louisville Affordable Housing Trust Fund Committee and Vice Chair of the Ad Hoc Vacant Properties Committee. She was a member of the Labor & Economic Development Committee, Public Safety Committee and Sustainability Committee. Also, Scott has taught in China, to students at Jefferson Community and Technical College and Bellarmine University. She has also served as the coordinator of Kentucky Jobs with Justice.

Scott has two degrees, radio experience, years of radio experience under her belt and two children whom she describes as her proudest accomplishments.
