Empire star Taraji P. Henson will be honored with the Lucy award for excellence in television, Women in Film announced on May 26. The organization’s annual Crystal + Lucy Awards fundraising gala, honors outstanding women in the entertainment industry. Empire is broadcast’s top-rated series in the 18 to 49 demographic.
Game Of Thrones starlet Natalie Dormer will receive the Max Mara “Face of the Future” award. The Crystal Award for excellence in film is being given to producers Denise Di Novi, Lauren Shuler Donner, Lucy Fisher, Lianne Halfon, Lynda Obst, Jane Rosenthal, Paula Wagner and Paula Weinstein. Lesli Linka Glatter, who has worked on smash series like Mad Men and Homeland will be presented with the BMW Dorothy Arzner Directors Award.
The evening will highlight Women In Film’s year-round commitment to create and promote initiatives and programs which will increase opportunities for women on and offscreen, in addition to striving toward equal wages for women.
The event will be held June 15 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
