Willow Smith rang in summertime with an amazing set at The 9th Annual Roots Picnic in Philadelphia yesterday [Saturday, June 4] and surprised the crowd with her father Will Smith performing his classic song, “Summertime.” Will brought along DJ Jazzy Jeff to accompany him as he jammed out with his daughter on stage.
Will a.k.a. “The Fresh Prince” and DJ Jazzy Jeff were a Hip Hop duo and co-stars on the television sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel- Air when they released their song “Summertime” in May of 1991 as the single to their album Homebase. In 1999, the duo went their separate ways and reunited for the first time in years to share the stage with Willow.
The Roots Picnic’s diverse line-up ranged from Usher and the Yoruba speaking sisters, Ibeyi to Lil Uzivert to Blood Orange.
