The shooting left one dead, identified as Ronald “Banga” McPhatter, and three injured including rapper Troy Ave. The deadly incident happened after a physical altercation turned into a shoot-out. The concert-goers could hear the shots ringing off from the green room with everyone scattering looking for safety.

The New York Daily News and the NYPD initially believed the green room shooting might have occurred due to a beef between Troy Ave and Maino, which Maino quickly denied the day after the shooting.

“We do not believe that he (Maino) was involved in the dispute,” NYPD Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce said.

Troy Ave is currently charged with attempted murder, but the charge may be upgraded to murder depending on the outcome of the investigation.
