Yesterday [Thursday, June 9], The New York Times reported a grand jury voted to indict Troy Ave for his role in the Irving Plaza shootout that took place on May 25.
Three people were injured and one person, Ronald McPhatter, died in the incident that night. Troy Ave was arrested the next day, charged with attempted murder and criminal weapons possession, and since then video has been released showing Troy Ave firing a gun during the shootout.
According to The New York Times, the indictment against Troy Ave will be filed within the next two weeks, and on June 22, when Troy Ave is due in court to be arraigned, the charges will be released, and we will know which charges Troy Ave has actually been indicted for.
One of Troy’s lawyers told The New York Times:
“He didn’t shoot himself. He didn’t shoot McPhatter. They are victims, and it’s time for the D.A.’s office to start treating them like victims.”
We’ll continue to provide updates as they’re made available.
