Earlier this week Wale announced the release of a new mixtape fans could expect sometime today [June 17]. The new Summer On Sunset mixtape will precede his fall album S.H.I.N.E. (Still Here Ignoring Negative Energy), but we were fortunate enough to get a preview of the mixtape with Wale’s new song, “Back To The Sun.”
“Back To The Sun” obviously has Wale back in his groove. In under two minutes, he gives us a glimpse of a new, unfazed persona that exudes confidence and one hundred percent focus on the craft.
In Wale’s trailer for the Summer On Sunset mixtape there was an audio clip from Jerry Seinfeld in which he stated, “I heard you’re moving out to L.A. to clear your head. Oh, my God. There’s very little clear head out there. L.A.’s fun. A lot of people out there work hard, but the people that aren’t working are partying even harder so stay cool and be yourself. Don’t ever change.”
From the sound of the new “Back To The Sun” song, it seems that L.A. is doing Wale a lot of good. Stay tuned with us for the release of the full Summer On Sunset mixtape and more news on the S.H.I.N.E. album as it becomes available.
