Young Thug, Jennifer Hudson, Erykah Badu, French Montana, Fat Joe, Remy Ma, Tori Kelly, Beyoncé signees Chloe X Halle and Bilal, Bryson Tiller, Usher, Desiigner, Future, Janelle Monae, Alicia Keys, Maxwell, Sheila E. and The Roots are all confirmed to perform, but many other surprises are expected.
Jamie Foxx, Taraji P. Henson, Jussie Smollett, Spike Lee, Chairman and CEO of BET Debra Lee, Wood Harris, Karrueche Tran, Deon Cole, Yara Shahidi, DJ Khaled, Gabrielle Union, Tinashe, Fantasia, Regina Hall, BET’s Music Moguls (Damon Dash, Birdman, Jermaine Dupri and Snoop Dogg,) Aja Naomi King, Nate Parker, Terrence J, Morris Chestnut, J.B. Smoove, Kimberly Elise, Omar Epps, the cast of BET’s New Edition Biopic (Bryshere Y. Gray, Elijah Kelley, Luke James, Algee Smith, Keith Powers and Woody McClain) and BET’s F in Fabulous cast (Kamie Crawford, Eny Oh, Stephon Mendoza and Savannah Lynx) all serve as presenters.
Stevie Wonder is participating in the highly anticipated Prince tribute. BET promised fans that its tribute is much better than what Billboard staged last month.
The evening also shines a light on emerging acts like Anderson Paak. & The Free Nationals and Bibi Bourelly. Samuel L. Jackson is to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award and Jesse Williams is to accept the 2016 Humanitarian Award.
