What better way to eliminate the competition than to buy it? It seems like Apple may do just that, according to The Wall Street Journal, Apple is currently discussing purchasing TIDAL. Of course, no official deals or contracts have been made yet but it appears Apple is super interested in Tidal’s exclusive artists: Beyonce, Kanye West, Rihanna, Madonna, Usher, J. Cole and others.
A TIDAL spokesperson told the WSJ that TIDAL representatives had not even discussed the matter with Apple. Prior to this, there had been a similar story floating around back in February. Apparently, at one point Samsung was also said to be talking about buying the streaming service as well. This obviously never happened and both companies denied the allegations. Hopefully Apple is a tad more serious than Samsung was but, we’ll keep you updated as more information becomes available.
