From a distance, it appears as though NBA teams have been breaking the bank in order to land free agents this offseason. Superstars and role players have been benefiting from the open checkbooks of franchises. One such man might end up being restricted free agent Harrison Barnes, formerly of the Golden State Warriors. According to the Associated Press, the Dallas Mavericks intend on offering Barnes a 4-year deal worth $95 million. The move might be a reaction to Chandler Parsons leaving Dallas to join the Memphis Grizzlies but with that said, the Golden State Warriors have the option to match any offer given to Barnes.
Barnes was slandered mercilessly throughout the NBA finals for failing to rise to the occasion when the Warriors needed him most. Fans and pundits alike assumed that a big contract would not be in the cards for the 24-year-old but it seems that he will be cashing out nonetheless.
