Kendrick Lamar has had quite a year. Even though his To Pimp a Butterfly album came out in the spring of 2015, it’s still the topic of conversation, the result of making powerful and timeless music. It is now leading him to a top-notch performance at The White House.

Lamar is performing at a White House event on Monday, July 4. The annual concert also features the lively Janelle Monae. Heroes of the military, family, barbecue and live music on The White House South Lawn sounds like an incredible way to spend the holiday.

In 2015, President Obama’s favorite song of the year came from K. Dot. “How Much a Dollar Cost” is straight off of To Pimp a Butterfly and the POTUS couldn’t get enough of it. The album drew enough attention on its own, but got a little help from the President. The song features Ronald Isley and James Fauntleroy.
