The Kevin Durant sweepstakes have narrowed down this weekend as several teams made the trip to the Hamptons in order to meet with the former league MVP. Each franchise is doing everything possible in order to reel him in. The San Antonio Spurs brought along LaMarcus Aldridge and Golden State Warriors had reigning MVP Steph Curry join in for the pitch. The Boston Celtics took things a step further, reaching outside of the basketball world, having New England Patriots superstar quarterback Tom Brady accompany franchise GM and President Danny Ainge in his meeting with Durant.
According to ESPN’s Jeff Goodman, Brady gave Durant his insight on what it’s like to play in the city of Boston. Celtics point guard Marcus Smart and center Kelly Olynyk joined the meeting as well. Apparently, Boston Red Sox DH David Ortiz was supposed to attend the meeting but was unable to, as evidenced by the tweet below.
Yo @KDTrey5 sorry I couldn’t make the meeting today but Brady will tell u they don’t call Boston the City of Champions for nothing ???
