With the apparent demographic of this Caribbean island many fans of the hip hop world called him out on the casting of Amina Blue. Blue a Caucasian woman, was dressed in Jamaica fashion and “Bantu Knots”. Many say this to be an act of cultural appropriation. Why were the inhabitants of this beautiful island simply used as props? and the starring role given to the white woman. With the seemingly consistent demeaning images portrayed in our media today, many think that an artist would want to voice the views and values of their people. This however is not evident with some of the millennial artists.
