Sunday night, Twitter erupted after Kim Kardashian posted video of Taylor Swift apparently giving the green light for Kanye West to use her name in his song “Famous” off of The Life of Pablo.
In the video you can see/hear Kanye rapping the line “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex” and Taylor finding admiration in the verse, even going as far as to say that the line was a compliment. All things seemed fine, and Kanye released the song, only to have Taylor back peddle on music’s biggest stage—at The Grammys.
Fast forward a few months to last night, and Kim comes to her man’s defense, releasing a video via Snapchat of the recorded conversation, sending the internet into a complete frenzy. Kanye fans waited around Twitter patiently for an ALL CAPS RANT, but ‘Ye played it cool and let the internet work for him. Is he going to remain silent? Or will he join his wifey on the petty train, and do something extremely Kanye-ish?
Here are five predictions on just what Kanye might do in the wake of all of this madness.
- Kanye updates The Life of Pablo one more time, and adds the conversation to the beginning of “Famous.”
If this happens, Kanye’s discography goes down as the greatest of all time. The fact that Kanye had a running update going on The Life of Pablo in the first place was genius in itself. A week after the album dropped, you could’ve listened to your favorite song off the album in an entirely new light, and that was truly something that will have a lasting effect on music. Of course Taylor Swift will have her sue button on deck for something like this, and Kanye probably doesn’t want those financial woes at the moment (especially because he probably already has something more coming for the “Famous” video). We wouldn’t put this pass Ye though, as we’re literally dealing with a mad scientist.
2. Kanye uses the conversation as a sample, makes it a hit song, finds a Taylor Swift version of Desiigner to sing the hook, signs her to G.O.O.D Music.
Petty level 99. Of course this one is far fetched, but having a Taylor Swift clone naked in a bed next to him seemed far fetched as well, and we see how that went down. Kanye’s sample game is top shelf, and if he found a way to effectively sample this polarizing conversation, it will be yet another trophy added to his mantle. Once again, lawyers will be contacted asap, but the song would be a smash, and it would be worth Kanye having to give up a bag for it.
3. Kanye spits another Kim K / home movie rap.
We all remember the infamous, “my girl a superstar all from a home movie…” bar from the smash hit, “Clique” that Kanye spit along side Big Sean and JAY Z. If Ye comes back with another bar similar to this, and it’s along the lines of, “my girl clapping back all with a home movie..”, the rap game would be upside down. Kim would embrace this attention and that would boost the rap to another dimension like her support for Kanye always does.
4. Kanye does a song with Calvin Harris.
This one is straight from the Twitter timeline. The world wants this to happen badly, and they want Calvin Harris to completely flame Taylor Swift up. This one may be one of the most likely ones on the list. We know that Kanye likes to work with a diverse range of artists, and Calvin Harris is pretty dope. The song would sound amazing, how subtle would the shade be though? This song would have to be a surprise drop, because any headline even remotely hinting to its existence would explode the internet.
5. Kanye Summer Jam screens Taylor Swift during The Life of Pablo Tour.
Will Kanye take a page out of his big homie Jigga’s book, and go all Summer Jam on Taylor Swift? Last night there were top shelf memes and tweets flying on the timeline, more than enough to effectively mimic Drake, and Meek Mill Taylor. Would Kanye be able to handle the backlash that will stem from it? Not sure but there will undoubtedly be some. Poking at America’s Sweetheart in such a manner will once again demonize Ye, but this would be hilarious. Can you imagine the attention Kanye would get, and how much he’d love it? He’d trend every night that it happens, and there’s no telling of the Kim commentary that would assist in the efforts. Once again, Taylor Swift probably wouldn’t go down without a sue here.
