UK artist Skepta is having some trouble getting across the pond.
Dealing with visa issues, the grime frontrunner has been forced to forfeit his Lollapalooza performance this year [2016]. The festival that takes place July 28 – July 30 in Chicago has already found a replacement in artist Joey Purp to fill in for his time slot.
Not the first instance of the rapper dealing with visa issues, Skepta has been cancelling scheduled shows in America since April [2016] due to the troublesome paperwork. Including his Coachella performance and U.S. tour dates, the British artist is really feeling a dent in his touring due to his denied requests for a U.S. visa.
With his Drake and Kanye West connections, Skepta has broken through the UK glass ceiling and made way for the genre of grime in the states. With all his visa denials, what does this mean for the budding American leg of Skepta’s career that’s been taking off?
