This includes new console and PC games, changes to its mobile game, and the continuation of the animated series.

Sonic Mania leads SEGA with an ultimate collaboration, new to the company. It revisits the old with 2D gaming, and switches it up by fusing new Zones and Acts and those from past Sonic series into one game. Sonic Mania versions work on PlayStation® 4, Xbox One, and PCs. SEGA of America will release the game Spring 2017, with partner PagodaWest Games. Head of Sonic Team Takashi Iizuka said in a statement, “Sonic Mania has been a passion project for the entire team and we look forward to sharing more details about it later this year.”

Sonic Team’s next work goes untitled for now and the details are scarce. However, Ivo Gerscovich of SEGA of America alluded to something innovative. Like all the additions, “This is only the beginning for Sonic and we’re happy our fans were here to celebrate this exciting new direction,” he said. Whatever it may be, players should expect its arrival during the 2017 holiday season.

What’s available now for fans is an update to the popular Sonic Dash mobile game. An in-game event will go on for a week, in celebration of Sonic Dash’s 200 million downloads. Players can experience the Green Hill Zone and play as Classic Sonic, both of which will be available event after the event. The game is compatible for iPhone and Android and is free to download.

SEGA also screened a preview of the next season of Sonic Boom. The animated television series was renewed for a second season. Plus, the upcoming action and comedy of Sonic the Hedgehog will inspire a new Nintendo 3DS game, Sonic Boom: Fire and Ice [September 27].
