The vice president is accumulating quite the acting resume, and his next role casts him alongside Mariska Hargitay to restore law and order in New York City.
The vice president’s public service announcements on sexual assault appeared in between your favorite shows in recent months. The White House’s “It’s On Us” campaign challenged college campuses to provide better solutions in prevention and treatment of assaults, along with the announcement of the National Sexual Assault Kit Initiative.
President Barack Obama commended his right-hand man: “For decades, Vice President Joe Biden has brought unmatched passion to this cause, working to pass the Violence Against Women Act in the Senate more than two decades ago, and continuing to fight today to transform the way we think and talk about sexual assault.”
Biden’s work gained attention from Hargitay, who tweeted before her Democratic National Convention appearance, “@VP Biden u have done so much 4 women, 4 survivors, 4 this movement 2 end violence #ThankU. An honor to intro u tonight #ChangingTheCulture.”

As a guest on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Biden will meet someone who measures up to his real-life efforts to aid sexual assault victims: Olivia Benson. His role required an official addition to his public schedule. Officials wrote, “While in New York, the Vice President will tape an appearance on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit on the rape kit backlog and efforts to end violence against women.” He joins the 18th season of the show, set to premiere in fall [September 21, 2016.]
