As many can see prevalent on the accounts of celebrities and other high-profile members, trolls run amuck in the comments sections of these pages. Abuse report filings are high in response to the persistent users at over one million cases reported a week.

In the near future, utilizing keywords, high-profile users will soon be able to filter out and disable comments with a new update. No word on the specifics of what exactly constitutes a “high-profile” user, but such Instagrammers will be the only ones privy to the new feature for now.

In an email to NBC news, an Instagram representative expressed, “Our goal is to make Instagram a friendly, fun and, most importantly, safe place for self expression. We have slowly begun to offer accounts with high volume comment threads the option to moderate their comment experience. As we learn, we look forward to improving the comment experience for our broader community.”
