A bench warrant was issued yesterday [Tuesday, August 9] for Tyga‘s arrest after the rapper failed to appear in court to explain why he hasn’t paid a nearly $500,000 debt.

The court appearance stems from a $480,000 lawsuit against Tyga, who owes the money to his former Malibu landlord Gholamreza Rezai, who evicted him for failing to pay rent and leaving the property a mess.

“The master bedroom had been outfitted with a stripper’s pole and the home’s intercom system was disconnected. The hardwood floors, gate opener and glass-tiled shower were damaged,” reports the LA Times. The landlord claimed that Tyga “leased a house that he wanted to use as his primary residence, then he completely trashed it.”

TMZ reports that the landlord was upset in court after seeing Tyga had purchased Kylie Jenner a $200,000 Mercedes-Maybach for her birthday earlier this week. The landlord called the gift a “fraudulent transfer of assets” that should be going towards fixing the house and back rent that Tyga still owes.

The court date was scheduled so he could undergo a “debtor’s exam,” during which he was to explain his finances and why he has failed to pay what he owes Rezai. Because he did not appear in court, Judge Nancy Newman issued a warrant authorizing Tyga’s arrest to ensure he appeared in court in the future. Bail was set at $10,000.
