DJ Drama sat down with The Breakfast Club for an in-depth interview and there was a lot to talk about, including his new Quality Street Music 2 album, new signees and the culture that he helped heavily influence. Speaking of influences, Drama not mentioning Migos as one of Atlanta’s top influencers didn’t sit too well with Quavo of Migos.

“If we take the OutKast’s, the Ludacris’s, the T.I.’s, the Jeezy’s, and the Gucci’s, and the Future’s, and the 2 Chainz’s, and the [Young] Thug’s, you know, it’s in a good place,” Drama stated in the interview. There’s probably more people that Drama could have named, but these are the artists that came to his head.

The interview question was catered more-so towards success stories out of Atlanta and not the influential aspect coming from the city. There’s a fine line, however, between success and influence, especially in the position of Migos.

One of the newer influencers in the game are Migos, where there are tons of artists using the flow and style they use. Drama mentioned that, saying the whole rap game took what Migos had going for them. Quavo didn’t see things this way.

Quavo took to Twitter and mentioned DJ Drama in several tweets. “How dare you mention Atlanta rap culture and not mention Migos. We think that’s kinda disrespectful, my Up North brotha,” Quavo said. Drama quickly displayed that he didn’t want any type of beef. “I be at Mean Streets [Studio],” Drama said in return. “Feel free to come and have a convo with me. I ain’t got no beef with you my young bull. Keep doing your thing.”

Drama might of failed to mention the Quavo, Offset, and Takeoff as influences, but he did let The Breakfast Club know that he actually almost signed Migos when they met in New York. “[The signing] would’ve been a good one.”
