Only a few short days after releasing his new song “Sauce” ft. DJ Khaled, The Game has released some new heat. This time it’s not music, but the impressive cover art for his upcoming 1992 album.
For The Game’s past two albums, Documentary 2 and Year of the Wolf, he held art contests for graphic designers to submit their best work and ideas for the album covers, and eventually a lucky fan was chosen as the winner.
For the 1992 album, The Game changed the game a bit. The album cover was created by Joe Cool, who is most known for the cover art for Snoop Dogg’s, Doggystyle, album.
The Game took to Instagram to explain the artwork in detail. More specifically, Game was 12 years old in 1992, which was also the year the famous OJ Simpson car chase and trial took place, Rodney King got brutally beaten by police officers, which led to the LA Riots, and Michael Jordan and the DreamTeam won gold at the Olympics. The Game experienced all these incidents in real time at such a young age, in addition to the influence of gangs and which one to join. The Game explained this is just a taste of the topics discussed on 1992, but the cover art is a gift to fans that have been requesting it.
