After being being pressed about her next project drop, Nicki Minaj announced that a fruit-themed album, “Pick My Fruit Out,” was on its way at midnight [Sunday, October 9]. With songs like Mango and Cherry and even a Harambe mention, some fans caught sight of Minaj’s humor enough to play along. She continued, “The one I’m most excited about, however, is track #10, it features my favorite rapper of all time.”

But as Minaj and her supposed album kept trending on Twitter, the jokish nature seemed to wear off for fans. The possibility of an album release got realer than ever. Even those Barbz still skeptical stayed up with all eyes on the rapper.

And as the clock struck midnight, so did the plot twist. With Nicki’s bars, “Pick My Fruit” had the potential to be dope—if it actually came out. Nicki never gave in and seamlessly enjoyed the results of her prank.

For Barbz, their night was sour and sweet, just like her fake album’s tracklist.
