Back in April, YG and Nipsey Hussle released their anti-Trump anthem, FDT, which raised awareness on the importance of voting in this upcoming election to ensure forward motion of our country. Now, as we near November and times get more and more critical, Nipsey Hussle took it upon himself to use that same passion expressed in the FDT song and host a voter registration drive in his community.
The drive was hosted by Nipsey and Cobby Supreme this past Sunday [October 9th] from 12-4pm on Slauson Ave. Nipsey took to his Instagram to announce the very important message to his followers.
It stated:
“As young people with an interest in the future of America, we have to exercise our intelligence and choose who leads us into it wisely. 2016 will be a turning point in this country’s history. The question is in which direction will we go? The last 8 years represented an upward revolution in Western political principles and the collective vibration of America as a whole. We saw more inclusive and diplomatic foreign policy. We saw prison reform actually bring home family members and neighbors of ours. We saw health care reform become a civil service, and we saw morally unjust conflicts with other countries resolved. Our opinion is that in the age of a technologically empowered & nuclear-armed planet, separation is the enemy. The next leader of America will be a most pivotal President for these reasons. Register ASAP and choose wisely.”
This election definitely cannot be left to chance so we have to salute artists like Nipsey who are using their influence to make sure the impact doesn’t just stop at Hip Hop. Are you registered to vote?
