The show will honor Edward Theodore “Teddy” Riley and Brandy for their “longstanding presence in the music industry and influence on the world of soul and R&B music past and present,” reads a statement about the awards show. Riley is set to receive the night’s highest honor, the Legend Award. Brandy will receive the 2nd annual Lady of Soul Award according to E! News. Although this show honors R&B and Soul artists, Drake has garnered 12 nominations, including two for Video of the Year Award for fan favorites “Hotline Bling” and “Work.” Beyonce comes in second with 8 nominations for Lemonade, including Album/Mixtape of the Year and Song of the Year for “Formation.” The 2016 Soul Train Music Awards will be filmed on Nov. 6 at the Orleans Arena, airing on Centric and BET on Nov. 27 at 8 p.m.
