Former US Open and French Open singles champion, Ilie Nastase was reportedly overheard being “nasty,” as his nickname also suggests, in his remarks regarding the interracial couple’s unborn child. “Let’s see what color it has. Chocolate with milk?” is the alleged comment that was made by the retired tennis player, who is now under investigation by the International Tennis Federation.

Yesterday, April 24th, Williams took to Instagram to share her feelings on the remarks by the current Romanian Fed Cup Captain. She said “It disappoints me to know we live in a society where people like Ilie Nastase can make such racist comments towards myself and unborn child, and sexist comments against my peers”. The world’s number 1 ranked tennis player also quoted notables from Maya Angelou‘s poem “Still I Rise” and said “this or anything else will not stop me from pouring love, light and positivity into everything that I do”.
