In a career that spans three decades, the Senigallia native has released numerous gold, platinum and multi-platinum records. At 40 years of age, Fibra continues to dominate the Italian music landscape with his recent single, “Fenomeno,” reaching gold status. This album titling single addresses the current state of Italian Hip-Hop, a scene Fibra believes is plagued by culture-vultures who release music lacking soul, due to being preoccupied with their image.

Although a legend in his homeland, Fibra has remained somewhat of an unknown entity beyond the peninsula’s shores, in no short part owing to the language barrier faced by listeners from non-Italian speaking backgrounds. Fibra did however recently gain rotation on Ebro Darden’s Beats1 radio through Apple Music, the first Italian artist to achieve this accolade, reaching an audience in over 100 nations.

Earlier this year Fibra also gained the attention of skating legend Tony Hawk after the Italian rapper released an online dedication to the skater’s unwavering commitment to his culture, a parallel Fibra draws with his own involvement in Hip-Hop. Hawk shared the song “Tony Hawk” on social media; joking that “I can cross “featured in an Italian rap song” off my bucket list”.

Fabri Fibra recently travelled to California to film his latest video “Stavo Pensando A Te” and is going from strength to strength, showing no sign of letting up in representing Italian Hip-Hop’s quality on a worldwide scale. “Fenomeno” is out now through Universal Music Group and has just gone platinum itself.
