There is almost nothing more fulfilling to the hardcore hip-hop head than bearing witness to not just one…but two notable lyricists busting a freestyle on the mic.

In lieu of promoting their new show, HBO’s The Deuce, the beyond talented Black Thought of The Roots and high-powered MC of the Wu-Tang Clan Method Man stopped by Sway in the Morning and tripped into a cypher.

On The Deuce, Black Thought plays a pimp by the name of Reggie Love who once served in the Vietnam War and happens to be highly versed in politics with a strong opinion about the president’s (Nixon) ways and actions. Method Man also plays the role of a pimp known as Rodney who is a personable and pretty fellow with a smooth approach.

Sway in the Morning is infamous for impromptu cyphers, and it was only logical that these two internationally acclaimed lyricists took to the mic and showcased the identity of the Hip-Hop MC.

Spitting over J.I.D.’s “Never” instrumental, the legends got in session. Even though Method Man had to pull out his phone for some bars, the veteran compelled proof that he is sword is still sharp and Black Thought displayed effortless dominance as he flowed taking observers into a trance of captivation. This cypher is in the ranks as being one of the best of 2017.
