Snoop Dogg and Method Man hosting a game show on TBS? Sounds like an unlikely pair if you would’ve mentioned this two decades ago. But the East coast and West coast rap legends will be coming to the small screen next week, hosting The Joker’s Wild and Drop the Mic, respectively.
Snoop revealed that he used to watch game shows growing up with his grandmother, but hosting one was never apart of his initial career plans. Now that the opportunity is on the table he has plans with The Joker’s Wild, “It was my goal to bring it back to life with an urban, hip-hop edge, something everyone can enjoy”.
Drop the Mic is a musical spin-off of James Corden’s late night talk show, which will be a combination of a rap battle and comedy roast between a strange pair of emcees. Method is set to host alongside, Hailey Baldwin. The Wu-Tang Clan member admitted that the show is a “slippery slope”.
But anything that can expand the audience for hip-hop is worth it. We’re about to put rap in your grandpa’s hands and, hopefully, he’ll check out some of the harder stuff and understand how this genre has lasted as long as it has.
