News reports have confirmed a Florida woman is charged with killing her 9-year-old cousin after she sat on her as punishment.

Veronica Green Posey, 64, is charged with homicide and cruelty toward a child.
Paramedics responded to the home where they found 9-year-old Dericka Lindsay unresponsive. They brought her to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.
According to the arrest report, the 325-pound Posey told police she sat on the girl for about 10 minutes as punishment for “being out of control.”
Police say Dericka told the adults in the room she could not breathe. When Posey stood up the girl was unresponsive.
Police also arrested and charged 69-year-old Grace Joan Smith and 62-year-old James Edmund Smith on charges of child neglect for failing to report abuse.
Grace Smith was also charged with cruelty to a child.
The Smiths are the parents of Dericka. Posey is their niece, according to police.
Police say Grace Smith called Posey for help disciplining the girl. She told police that Posey hit Dericka with a ruler and a metal pipe before sitting on her.
