Achieving continuous background play of youtube on your phone is quite tricky. When you tap the home button and your music, podcast or audio interview’s sound cuts out it’s often times disappointing. According to The Verge however there is now a way to listen to Youtube and minimize it in the foreground.

For iPhone users, download a third party browser such as Dolphin to play Youtube. Exiting the app and resuming playback through the iOS Control Center will allow for background play.

If your using an Android, take advantage of the Telegram messaging app. Just send yourself a Youtube link and when clicking, the video will play directly without transferring you to the youtube app or mobile browser.
