The Muddy Waters rapper is always ready to school the new cats.

Redman stopped by HOT 97 on Wednesday (October 18th) and was given the chance to express the innings of his Hip-Hop mentality along with some never heard before facts.

The notable bricks MC reveals to Ebro, Laura Stylez, and Rosenberg that he has been living in Staten Island for over 10 years and surprisingly, his signature duo magic counterpart, Method Man, a Staten Island native, was not the one who brought him into the forgotten New York City borough. He is actually living in the same home as the one from his infamous MTV Cribs episode.

Redman is undisputedly a Hip-Hop act who is legendary for their distinctive sound. When asked by the inquisitive Ebro about appreciating the art of a rapper having a distinct sound, Redman said:

From my era, from even the era before us, it was about being different, it was about being original. That’s why we uphold the names that we have from Big Daddy Kane, KRS-One, Slick Rick, Redman, Keith Murray, Ghost. Look at these names, they’re like superheroes.

The dialogue immediately went into the lack of distinction in the sound of modern-day rappers, and Redman wholeheartedly believes the use of auto-tune is the cause.

You know what it is Ebro, it is the god damn auto-tune. Let’s just look at the facts. The dudes who are not using auto-tune, Kendrick Lamar, J Cole, Joey Badass, even Gunplay from MMG, they stand out. While everybody uses auto-tune, you won’t know who is who.

It was only right for Redman to display the sound of a distinctive MC, dropping a soul-snatching Muddy Waters 2 influenced freestyle, shaking the airwaves.

Redman is coming back to television via VH1 as the host of the network’s newest show, Scared Famous which is airing on Monday, October 23rd at 8 pm. Peep Redman’s full insightful HOT 97 interview by pressing play above.
