Although A$AP Rocky got into the game as a rapper, released Cozy Tapes Vol. 1 & 2 this year, and has been featured on a solid number of tracks, he is more associated with his interest in fashion now-a-days. The Harlem rapper is getting back to the basics with this highly-anticipated, forthcoming album. The A$AP Mob frontman told GQ that he will be experimenting with sounds that are different from what’s “current”.

My new album is really about testing new sounds. People are scared to test new sounds, so they go with what’s current ’cause it’s the easy thing to do. The top 100 songs sound a certain way. People cater more to that because it’s a bigger demographic behind that, or it’s a guaranteed demographic behind that. I prefer to experiment and have my crowd grow with me and to reach new crowds. I don’t just rap—I actually make music. That’s why it takes time. These sonics represent me.

Rocky went on to say that he recorded a lot of the album at his “second home”, London. This was done intentionally so that he can get away from home and incorporate the sounds of the city into this album.

There’s no tentative release date for the album, but it’s slate to release this year.
