“This is not an experiment for us,” exclaimed Peter Larsen, Amazon’s vice president of delivery technology, speaking to Reuters. “This is a core part of the Amazon shopping experience from this point forward.”

Available to Amazon Prime members in specific cities in the US, $249.99 and up will afford you a lock that the company offers to install. Couriers will ring a doorbell or knock when they arrive. With no response, they press ‘unlock’ in a mobile app and Amazon checks its systems to make sure the right individual and item are at the location.

Amazon’s “Cloud Cam” camera fits inside the customers hall. The surveillance device records the delivery to make sure all goes well.
