“If you were worried ’bout where / I been or who I saw or / What club I went to with my homies / Baby don’t worry you know that you got me” – Erykah Badu
Despite the spooky Halloween holiday, BET took a hot and steamy approach to this week’s installment of “TALES,” the weekly anthology series based on hip-hop classics, on Tuesday, October 31.
What’s special about “TALES” is that it hits on all cylinders; politics, peer pressure, social issues and now romantic bouts and the ups-and-downs of lust and incredible sexual chemistry.
Directed by Erica Watson, this week’s episode was inspired by The Roots featuring Erykah Badu track “You Got Me.” The 1999 single off The Roots fourth studio album, Things Fall Apart, landed the group and Badu a Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group in 2000.
Starring the gorgeous Lex Scott Davis (CBS’s “Training Day,” Lifetime’s “Toni Braxton: Unbreak My Heart”) as Angie and Sinqua Walls (“Power,” Believe Me) as the insatiable, suave and lusty #photographybae, Marcus. Highly recommended for adult’s eyes only, yesterday’s show followed a highly disciplined, independent minded dancer preparing to perform in an important show who falls for a charming guy who gets her to lose control.
The dance scenes reeked of Alvin Ailey vibes; fluid, soft and sensual. The show’s playlist was lit and should be added to the series soundtrack; if one exists.
And the surprise ending still left viewers scratching their heads- but no spoiler alerts here. Head over to BET to catch up on all the action.
Tune into ‘TALES’ on Tuesday, November 21 at 9:00pm/8:00pm CST on BET for the two hour season finale, featuring Mary J. Blige and Method Man‘s urban anthem, “You’re All I Need.”
