Almost everyone has had it with President Trump and FINALLY there are some talks of impeachment. A small group of Democrats, six to be exact, have called for impeachment hearings on the 45th. Democrat Steve Cohen of Tennessee has five articles of impeachment against the president.
The group agrees that the emoluments clause of the Constitution has been violated as Trump profits from his businesses; they want to charge Trump with an obstruction of justice when he fired FBI Director James Comey; and he has demoralized the freedom of the press and the federal judiciary.
Cohen said, “It’s not a call for a vote. It’s a call for hearings.” Because Republicans control both the House of Representatives and the Senate, this call for hearings is a long shot but worth a try nonetheless. Cohen also stated,
“The time has come to make clear to the American people and to this president that his train of injuries to our Constitution must be brought to an end through impeachment.”
Now if Trump were to ever be impeached, the next in line as our Commander in Chief would be Mike Pence. It’s choosing the lesser of two evils, but either way we don’t know how far this idea of impeachment will go.
